Largactil
This post is about a drug I came across on tv programme a drug I had not heard about for about 20 years that drug being Largactil. I recently came across it while watching a tv program about Strangeways where it was called the liquid cosh by the inmates as it was used there to calm them down if they played up. Largactil is a sedative really but has serious side effects so I was really shocked to hear that it was used by the guards to knock inmates out and was surprised that they were allowed to give to inmates in injection form, I first came across Largactil in the 1980s when I worked in a well to do care home for the elderly in Kew Gardens for a few weeks one summer. Some of the residents had dementia and maybe have been a bit difficult at times so Largactil was given to them to calm them down it was given in liquid form and it did the job I guess it was used in the same manner as the liquid cosh which might have some justification in a prison but not in an elderly...
