film

Saturday was supposed to be the day the local football club started using their new camera to stream games on Facebook. Since it was an away match, I assume they needed permission. At kickoff, after checking the game hadn’t been cancelled—a common issue this season—I saw it was still on, though some nearby matches had been called off. I waited for the stream, but nothing appeared; probably just teething problems. Hopefully, they’ll have it sorted by next week.   They still won five-nil, with four assists from a player who’d just returned. Despite not playing for weeks, they had the confidence to convincingly beat a decent team. They’re currently fourth in the league, quite far from the top, but with a strong push could grab the second promotion spot. The top place seems out of reach, but you never know—it’s a funny old game.   The wintry weather seems to have passed for now, and we’re back to the usual rain. I got a link to the game, which was a bit pointless since I...

pandemic

I came across a video filmed in my garden a couple of years ago. It showed the fence that once stood between me and next door—before *that* hideous new one went up. It had a softness to it, really. A lovely tree leaned over the wall, and there was an old shed at the far end—both now gone. As they say, *good fences make good neighbours*, but it seems I’m stuck with this one for now. I found the video in the downloads of what I’d posted to Facebook. I’ll never be a cameraman, but I suppose they act as a record—snapshots of what’s unfolded over the past five years or so, through the pandemic and everything else. I’m not sure what to do with them, really. Part of me thinks I should just delete them—they do take up space on the computer—but part of me hesitates. I’d hoped the videos would include ones I uploaded to other sites too, but it looks like I’m only getting the ones from my page. During the pandemic, I shared a few clips of myself singing and playing the guitar. I wouldn’t mind see...

I found an old photograph of the village on the internet today it was in the local community pubs twitter feed, the pub is called the Pengwern.  The photo was taken from across the road here on the hill in the middle of the village and it was taken in 1973 and discovered in the negatives of some photographer who I can't recall's name.   I went and took photo from the same place this morning and when I got there I was surprised to see that I could not see the original image it changed now there was a load of trees there.  If it had been winter I might have got a clearer image but it being in the summer the trees are full of leaves.  I remember the houses as they were then I was 10 years old there is one car there in the original photo which is different to now the place is packed with cars t is really interesting to how things change here over the years I guess that's one of the advantages of getting older you can see more changes  When growing up in this vi...

tired

I got up feeling rough today, not been feeling too good for a week now, not sure what the problem is.  I guess I will need to go to the doctor on Monday if I don't improve, just feeling really drained I guess. I could have gone on a walk today but because I was feeling so bad I didn't go, I had also planned to go somewhere else but did not do that either, instead I watched some rugby in and fell asleep in the chair, a shit day really I guess.
