Wilkinsons shit service

Well, I had to remove wallpaper again, and usually in this house if that happens, some plaster comes down with it, due to the walls being so bad here, but apparently its a common problem, I have some old filler but its dried up so I had go and get some from the local Wilkinsons in Porthmadog.  When I got to Wilkinson, I found some unibond, a make which I thought was quite good, on offer, there was 95p off it, so off I went to pay for it after I got couple other things, that shop seems to make me get more than I go in for usually.

Anyway I paid for my things at the till and thought the total was a bit high, so looked at the receipt on the way out and saw that they had charged me for full price.  Now I don't like going back and asking for a refund, but I did anyway, they had to go and check the price on the shelf, their records did not show the fact that it was reduced, not very good really.  Anyway the lady back later and said yes it was reduced, and someone gave me my money back which I had to sign for, as if I had made a mistake it seemed to me, not them, they did not even apologise, a really shoddy service in my eyes, totally crap, not sure where they get these people from.  I will think twice about going in there again I am sure some local shops would appreciate my custom a bit more, even though it might cost a few pennies extra.

When I came back from Porthmadog, I saw that they had moved the big stones which I 'accidentally ' pushed over, the place looks better already, I will have to shift that stuff at the bottom of the garden myself one of these days.  

I have put the filler in the hole where i need it, hopefully I can get on with putting up new wallpaper soon.  There is still a lot painting to do too, the ceiling etc, the paper is starting to come off that, I guess its been there so long, but the place is beginning to be transformed slowly, its getting there.

Well I achieved something last night, which I thought was going to be beyond me, I guess to a lot of people what I achieved, was pretty trivial, but I guess we all see things different;ly, what I achieved was to get over 170 score in a whist drive.  Last night was the first time I had ever done it, had a few scores in the 160's but not in the 170's which I see as the holy grail of scores to get as you will probably win then, which in fact I didn't last night, someone scored more than me, by 1 point.  I was not that bothered about that, all I was concerned about was getting a score above 170, I have been going to whist for years off and on and was never, until last night able to get the magic score, I am surprised I got the score last night as I had a bad headache all evening, I guess it was the luck of the cards that got me through. great war

I went to an exhibition today, which was about the first world war, it mainly seemed to be full of photos of men from my home village who had fallen in the great war, they were all young obviously not ravaged by time.  It was a bit sad to think that so many young men from the place where I grew up were killed, it had their names and the names of where they lived, the names of houses and streets are the same today Sometimes you feel the outside world does not affect what happens here, but I guess it must do as it dragged a load of the young men here into the conflict which was going on at that time, I am not sure I agree with them going to fight, but that is neither here nor there, the fact is they did and that was what was going on at that time. My grandfather was in the first world war, but he was lucky enough to survive, even though he did leave his calf muscle over there in wherever he was, it must have been hell for him really and I guess I will never know what he saw there, al

I did not go the 4th day of the walk, I could not face another 10 miles of plodding around the countryside, I think this is mainly due to the fact that I have not been walking quite so much in the last year, due to bad weather and things like that.  I did not think I would even finish 2 days but I did 3 in the end, more than anyone else except the person who organised the walk.   Instead of going on the walk i tidied up around the place, and just sat around, and also watched the football this afternoon, it was a crap day.  I did not even go for a short walk, its still perishing out there, I have a short walk on Wednesday, a kind of trail run for group who want to do this short walk, a recky or something they call it. I have at last heard when the new kitchen is being put in, apparently its on the !0th of April, I should have a received a 21 day notice but I didn't, which I guess is typical of the organisation who are doing the work.
