smart glasses

I’ve ordered a new pair of Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses, which should arrive this week. I went for the new ones because the Gen 1 version was a bit bulky. I didn’t expect to wear them as much as I do, so comfort wasn’t a big deal at first, but now it is. I chose the Blazer style this time—they fit better with no sliding down my nose.  

The new glasses are a bit pricier than the Gen 1s, but they have a better camera, improved microphones, and, of course, a better fit. I’m not sure what to do with the old pair—maybe just keep them in case the new ones break.  

I mostly use the glasses for the camera, capturing short videos and posting them on Facebook for the village diaspora to enjoy. Originally, I bought them to use the AI “look and see” command, but I haven’t used it much for that—except maybe for improving recipes.

The glasses are also handy for making hands free phone calls and listening to podcasts and -some music sometimes and getting messages from whatsapp, I guess they will get updates that will help with other things though some updates don't get to this region like they do in america for some reason.

I used the glasses yesterday to help me read the bus timetable which had dropped to the ground so was not at eye level, the glasses took a pic of it and I could ask the glasses about buses on the time table which was handy, it got it wrong though but that was due to my photographing skills I think .  the main issue is the internet is shit in a lot of towns so renderes the glasses useless-

My laptop has been acting up for the past few days, refusing to shut down properly. I suspect it got stuck on an update. messing about wih clocks

Tonight is the night they mess around with the clocks again, so it will be dark earlier, according to the clock tomorrow, which is shame really, as its dark enough as it is at this time of year, they should be turning the clock forward really so that we get more light in the evening, but I guess that would mean it would be dark in the morning, and those who get up early might not like that, but there are street lights these days, these old rules need changing.  Apparently it is something to do with Scotland that they 'need' it lighter in the morning, well I wish they would have got their independence and we could be spared this messing around with the clock.  Apparenlty this messing around is bad for some people's health and it has been reported that some people suffer a heart attack.  Well I guess its going to happen so I might aswell just accept it, at least the weather makes stupid things like this a bit more bareable ,it has not been too badk today and its not going t...

ginger cake

**The smell in my kitchen is amazing right now—I’ve just taken a ginger cake loaf out of the oven.** I made one in class a few weeks ago and thought I’d try it again myself at home. According to the teacher, ginger cake is less hassle than other types of cake, so I figured it should be easier for me to manage. I changed a few ingredients this time—I used margarine instead of butter. It might make it a bit less rich, though I haven’t tasted it yet, so I’m not sure. I was planning to cook it in the Ninja Speedi, but the tin I have doesn’t fit. I’d hoped it would speed up the baking and save having to use the main oven. I’ll need to find a tin that fits the Speedi for next time. Things can definitely go wrong with these cakes—like forgetting an ingredient or overbaking it so it turns out dry. But if I get good at this, I might even start selling them. Homemade cakes are a treat many families miss out on these days, with so much else going on.
