Welsh independence
It seems that the independence of Wales is becoming more prominent, that's what it looks like as the movement Yes Cymru has increased its membership some of the increase in the last few days is due to the controversy regarding the furlough scheme but it seems that the north of England was treated the same.
I see this furlough scheme thing as just another injustice of being ruled by another country and that is the crux of my belief in Welsh independence, I think Wales should rule itself so it could regarded as a sovreign state and things could be done to improve it then. I guess I want to live in country that is regarded as a free country not a vessel state of England so its a selfish thing really many might think that Britain is that state for me, its only Britain to England when it suits.
The is a border, do people who are a few feet from each other feel different. Do people who cross the border to live start to see independence as a thing for Wales? I can remember being aware of my nationalism when I move to Hereford when I was young Hereford is in England just about I guess. but I can remember saying I would die so Wales could be free, now the words of John lennon's imagine come to mind, nothing to live or die for.
I don't know if being away from home made me feel more nationalist. I have been back here a few years and have experienced a lot of shit from some people living here and when I lived in England it was the first time I had experienced kindness. I was getting a flat ready and a lady who worked at a college in Loughborough gave me curtains for the flat and helped put them up no one had ever been that kind to me before her name was Edna she was a support worker, it was not easy accept kindness I geuss it was something that I was not use to but I will never forget it.
So I am not sure about by nationalism anymore I think the fantasy of a free Wales is perhaps that. I have always envied Ireland. There is a thing about Wales being a country it either is or it isent it is in name only it does not have the trappings of being a country I guess its a half way house. I am not that familiar with Welsh history and don't know if was ever a country but I know it has been annexed by England I am not sure what that means it has suffered injustices over the years but maybe the north of England has aswell, the issue is I guess I just would like to see Wales as an independent state ruled by Welsh people but if the dirty scum bastards who I have encountered since being back would want I think I would actively campaign against it
I am getting on a bit now and also feel that if it came I would not get the benefit so I guess I am not that interested which I guess a lot people who live in Wales feel which might explain why scotland is now the only voluntary member of the the uk and is happy to be ruled by England. I don't even have children that I would like to see living in a free country.
