Wet Wednesday

It has done nothing but rain all day today, except for a few minutes at lunch time it seems, which took to mean the weather was getting better, so I did not bother putting on a coat to keep me dry, which was a mistake really as it the rain got a lot worse in the time I was out.  It is late evening and its still raining, There is a saying in Welsh that August has 3 heavy rainfalls in it, I think today was the first, so one down and 2 to go.  I did start out this morning to go for walk with a walking group, but i was a bit slow getting out of the house, the walk was 12 miles, from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Penrhydeudraeth, I was a bit late getting to the bus stop but thought that the buses were usually late anyway, but I guess it depended on how late.  Anyway I had missed the bus, I gave up after about 20 minutes, which in hindsight was a good thing, as I would have got pretty wet on the walk and it would have been miserable, walking in the rain with my head down, just wanting the end of the walk to come.  I don't get a chance to go walking with this group very often as the public transport which is crap, round here does nto go to the start of the walks, and I am not able to get a lift.

I did some painting when I got home, I think its a bad idea to paint when its humid as its a lot more watery than it is usually so the thing gets everywhere and I took long time trying to get off the carpet, I have at last ordered the paint to cover over the mess the builders made of the place when rewiring, I was given a voucher which was good, and to be honest I found it difficult to use up all the voucher, anyway apparently the paint and the other things will be here on Monday, then I guess I will have to get on with it, which will be ok, it will give me something to do I guess and someone has said they will help.

Today also, I got the new battery for the phone, now I guess I will see, if its the phone that is the problem of the battery, I would not be surprised if its the phone as it has been knocked about a bit over the years.  Anyway, at the moment the phone is charging so I will be able to tell better when it has stopped charging.  I also have more expense now as I lost my temper with the bin in the kitchen this morning and broke it and I broke a plate not a good start to the day,

I complained earlier on about Talk talk on twitter, talk talk actually wrote to me asking me if they could help, I am tired of their customer service so have not bothered to answer as yet, they are determined that the problem is the computer, where I see the fault is with their crap router.

Well I achieved something last night, which I thought was going to be beyond me, I guess to a lot of people what I achieved, was pretty trivial, but I guess we all see things different;ly, what I achieved was to get over 170 score in a whist drive.  Last night was the first time I had ever done it, had a few scores in the 160's but not in the 170's which I see as the holy grail of scores to get as you will probably win then, which in fact I didn't last night, someone scored more than me, by 1 point.  I was not that bothered about that, all I was concerned about was getting a score above 170, I have been going to whist for years off and on and was never, until last night able to get the magic score, I am surprised I got the score last night as I had a bad headache all evening, I guess it was the luck of the cards that got me through. I thought I would never get the score, as I don't see very well, and struggle to make out the cards sometimes which is a bit of a strain,

great war

I went to an exhibition today, which was about the first world war, it mainly seemed to be full of photos of men from my home village who had fallen in the great war, they were all young obviously not ravaged by time.  It was a bit sad to think that so many young men from the place where I grew up were killed, it had their names and the names of where they lived, the names of houses and streets are the same today Sometimes you feel the outside world does not affect what happens here, but I guess it must do as it dragged a load of the young men here into the conflict which was going on at that time, I am not sure I agree with them going to fight, but that is neither here nor there, the fact is they did and that was what was going on at that time. My grandfather was in the first world war, but he was lucky enough to survive, even though he did leave his calf muscle over there in wherever he was, it must have been hell for him really and I guess I will never know what he saw there, al

I did not go the 4th day of the walk, I could not face another 10 miles of plodding around the countryside, I think this is mainly due to the fact that I have not been walking quite so much in the last year, due to bad weather and things like that.  I did not think I would even finish 2 days but I did 3 in the end, more than anyone else except the person who organised the walk.   Instead of going on the walk i tidied up around the place, and just sat around, and also watched the football this afternoon, it was a crap day.  I did not even go for a short walk, its still perishing out there, I have a short walk on Wednesday, a kind of trail run for group who want to do this short walk, a recky or something they call it. I have at last heard when the new kitchen is being put in, apparently its on the !0th of April, I should have a received a 21 day notice but I didn't, which I guess is typical of the organisation who are doing the work.
