buses

 The pandemic has really wrecked the public transport around Gwynedd.  The service I use a lot run by Gwynedd council is the route from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Porthmadog.  All my life there has been an hourly bus between the two towns, many go shopping to Porthmadog from Blaenau and many go to work there too.

When the pandemic struck the service was reduced due to the lockdown but fairplay to Arriva Cymru there was a still a service going if only twice a day, this service was important due to the shopping in this village is not very good.  

It was not possible to go further afield due to the other services not being available so, Blaenau to Porthmadog was the only route open to me at that.  Eventually, probably due to the lack of use of the buses during the lockdown Arriva Wales gave up on the route and new company came in Lloyds of Machynelleth, who have been running what I| call the lockdown service ever since, its skeleton service really, a bus every hour and half in the morning and every two hours in the afternoon, the times are random so people don't really know when they are running.

The complaints I have heard about this skeleton service are that people feel that Blaenau is being isolated and that why is Blaenau not having the service it has always had, that of a bus every hour no one seems to care and are not doing anything about the situation.

The buses finish early at night, I use to work till 10 in porthmadog these days I would have had to give up the job, this not a service by any stretch of the imagination, it you can call it one its a pretty poor one, I don't know if they are exepecting another lockdown.

|I use to think the Sunday service round here was rubbish there is not difference hardly now between the weekday service or sunday servoce.

Apparetly the drastically delayed service of the T22 electric bus service is scheduled to start in Februaay I will believe it when I see it I guess there have been so many false starts and some buses which were suppose to be on the new services have been moved to the south of the country to make sure they are being used I guess, 

I have done a lot of moaning about this late roll out of the new service and you kind of think if I had not, what would have happened to the remaining bus service would they have been moved on too and we would have been perminantly left with the shit we have now, the senedd member has also raised the point thankfully I moaned at thim too and things are finally happening next month hopefully but we shall see I stil think there will be hold up, those nimbys have realy screwed things up with the help of the council I guess

Well I achieved something last night, which I thought was going to be beyond me, I guess to a lot of people what I achieved, was pretty trivial, but I guess we all see things different;ly, what I achieved was to get over 170 score in a whist drive.  Last night was the first time I had ever done it, had a few scores in the 160's but not in the 170's which I see as the holy grail of scores to get as you will probably win then, which in fact I didn't last night, someone scored more than me, by 1 point.  I was not that bothered about that, all I was concerned about was getting a score above 170, I have been going to whist for years off and on and was never, until last night able to get the magic score, I am surprised I got the score last night as I had a bad headache all evening, I guess it was the luck of the cards that got me through. great war

I went to an exhibition today, which was about the first world war, it mainly seemed to be full of photos of men from my home village who had fallen in the great war, they were all young obviously not ravaged by time.  It was a bit sad to think that so many young men from the place where I grew up were killed, it had their names and the names of where they lived, the names of houses and streets are the same today Sometimes you feel the outside world does not affect what happens here, but I guess it must do as it dragged a load of the young men here into the conflict which was going on at that time, I am not sure I agree with them going to fight, but that is neither here nor there, the fact is they did and that was what was going on at that time. My grandfather was in the first world war, but he was lucky enough to survive, even though he did leave his calf muscle over there in wherever he was, it must have been hell for him really and I guess I will never know what he saw there, al

I did not go the 4th day of the walk, I could not face another 10 miles of plodding around the countryside, I think this is mainly due to the fact that I have not been walking quite so much in the last year, due to bad weather and things like that.  I did not think I would even finish 2 days but I did 3 in the end, more than anyone else except the person who organised the walk.   Instead of going on the walk i tidied up around the place, and just sat around, and also watched the football this afternoon, it was a crap day.  I did not even go for a short walk, its still perishing out there, I have a short walk on Wednesday, a kind of trail run for group who want to do this short walk, a recky or something they call it. I have at last heard when the new kitchen is being put in, apparently its on the !0th of April, I should have a received a 21 day notice but I didn't, which I guess is typical of the organisation who are doing the work.
