whist
Well I achieved something last night, which I thought was going to be beyond me, I guess to a lot of people what I achieved, was pretty trivial, but I guess we all see things different;ly, what I achieved was to get over 170 score in a whist drive. Last night was the first time I had ever done it, had a few scores in the 160's but not in the 170's which I see as the holy grail of scores to get as you will probably win then, which in fact I didn't last night, someone scored more than me, by 1 point. I was not that bothered about that, all I was concerned about was getting a score above 170, I have been going to whist for years off and on and was never, until last night able to get the magic score, I am surprised I got the score last night as I had a bad headache all evening, I guess it was the luck of the cards that got me through.
I thought I would never get the score, as I don't see very well, and struggle to make out the cards sometimes which is a bit of a strain, and I thought, that that is why I would never get the score as maybe it was straining too much but obviously there is more to it than my not so good eyesight.
I don't know what it is about going to a whist drive that I enjoy, the company, the game itself, but I do find it fun, its not for everyone, that is obvious, as we haved over the months to get people to come along, maybe its the venue or something, I guess its a dying passtime, there are so many different thing to do these days and playing cards is probably last on people's lists. I think its a good thing to do though, for the socialising and for the using the mind to try and remember the cards which have gone, and to work with someone to try to get a winning score. It is better than sitting in front of the tv all night long anyway.
I went to see some guy about helping find a job this morning, what a waste of time, some drongo came in and started banging on about something I might not as well have been there, like the boy says, he does not know what to suggest, but he did come up with the suggestion that my options were limited which was very nice of him.
