egg

Another day of clanking metal cover in the middle of the road outside the house here.  i have rang up the council twice, but its still going on, I do not have much faith in this council and I guess, the damned thing be making a racket for a while yet, unless I do something drastic, like smash the damned thing up.

I have had another go at recording some stuff today, but I have forgotten how to go about it really I am having difficulty with the overdubbing bit.  I have not been out yet today, not sure if I will bother either, though a bit of fresh air might do me some good, though it seems the snow is back again, and its the small stuff, there is a saying in Welsh 'Eira man eira mawr' which means if the snow flakes are small in size then there is likey to be a lot of snow, but if the flakes are big, it won't stick and won't last, I don't if this saying is right or not, but its useful to throw into a conversation.  To be honest I am sick of the sight of the stuff really.

I am not too sure about these laptops as regards typing, i much prefer the keyboard that slopes like the ones you get on a stand alone PC, I guess I could get a usb keyboard, but I will probably just soldier on with this.

I am not too keen on sitting in here all day really as I burning a lot of gas and will have large bill in three months time, but I guess its winter so I have to keep the place warm.

I had poached egg for lunch I find them difficult to get right well the way I like them anyway, which is sofish and that makes it able for me to cut the horrible white stuff away, and then I can spread the yellow stuff on the toast, I tried a microwave egg poacher, but the egg exploded, I actually threw away the instructions on how to use it so this time i just had a go, but it messed up, I have thrown the thing way. I got my 'trusted' old egg poaching pan out, and did it with that but I was still not able to get it right though I did kind of eat them on some toast.

Well I achieved something last night, which I thought was going to be beyond me, I guess to a lot of people what I achieved, was pretty trivial, but I guess we all see things different;ly, what I achieved was to get over 170 score in a whist drive.  Last night was the first time I had ever done it, had a few scores in the 160's but not in the 170's which I see as the holy grail of scores to get as you will probably win then, which in fact I didn't last night, someone scored more than me, by 1 point.  I was not that bothered about that, all I was concerned about was getting a score above 170, I have been going to whist for years off and on and was never, until last night able to get the magic score, I am surprised I got the score last night as I had a bad headache all evening, I guess it was the luck of the cards that got me through. I thought I would never get the score, as I don't see very well, and struggle to make out the cards sometimes which is a bit of a strain,

great war

I went to an exhibition today, which was about the first world war, it mainly seemed to be full of photos of men from my home village who had fallen in the great war, they were all young obviously not ravaged by time.  It was a bit sad to think that so many young men from the place where I grew up were killed, it had their names and the names of where they lived, the names of houses and streets are the same today Sometimes you feel the outside world does not affect what happens here, but I guess it must do as it dragged a load of the young men here into the conflict which was going on at that time, I am not sure I agree with them going to fight, but that is neither here nor there, the fact is they did and that was what was going on at that time. My grandfather was in the first world war, but he was lucky enough to survive, even though he did leave his calf muscle over there in wherever he was, it must have been hell for him really and I guess I will never know what he saw there, al

I did not go the 4th day of the walk, I could not face another 10 miles of plodding around the countryside, I think this is mainly due to the fact that I have not been walking quite so much in the last year, due to bad weather and things like that.  I did not think I would even finish 2 days but I did 3 in the end, more than anyone else except the person who organised the walk.   Instead of going on the walk i tidied up around the place, and just sat around, and also watched the football this afternoon, it was a crap day.  I did not even go for a short walk, its still perishing out there, I have a short walk on Wednesday, a kind of trail run for group who want to do this short walk, a recky or something they call it. I have at last heard when the new kitchen is being put in, apparently its on the !0th of April, I should have a received a 21 day notice but I didn't, which I guess is typical of the organisation who are doing the work.
