Its another grey day weather wise and its actually raining at the moment.  A lot of people don't like this grey weather but me I don't mind it really for one reason and one reason only I have something called photophobia and therefore don't like glare so this weather is ideal for me.

 I seem to have gone back to my musical routes lately I am listening to more soul music these days which haven't really listened to for ages but its the first genre of music I fell in love with a long time ago namely motown I guess where i was sat on a chair as teeenager and saw an advert for the big wheels of motown and was blown away its funny how some types of music have and effect on different people.

 listening to the old stuff is a lot easier these days as they are all free on the youtube or some other streaming service.  So I could sit here all day listening to old soul that I haven't heard before and its all free to listen to at a certain quality if you want to improve the quality you have to pay.

 I am now at the moment listening to the sound of phildelphia, the three degrees etc who I loved in the 70s, I think I have or had a couple of albums or singles somewhere I have misplaced a lot music over the years I lost a lot when my father died and the house was sold in that nasty time I don't even have a record player to play any vinyl records any more I barely have a cd player I just use the computer to steam the sounds.

 I get some recommendations from a friend who also likes soul he is fantatcal the rarer the better it seems for him I just like the music.

Well I achieved something last night, which I thought was going to be beyond me, I guess to a lot of people what I achieved, was pretty trivial, but I guess we all see things different;ly, what I achieved was to get over 170 score in a whist drive.  Last night was the first time I had ever done it, had a few scores in the 160's but not in the 170's which I see as the holy grail of scores to get as you will probably win then, which in fact I didn't last night, someone scored more than me, by 1 point.  I was not that bothered about that, all I was concerned about was getting a score above 170, I have been going to whist for years off and on and was never, until last night able to get the magic score, I am surprised I got the score last night as I had a bad headache all evening, I guess it was the luck of the cards that got me through. I thought I would never get the score, as I don't see very well, and struggle to make out the cards sometimes which is a bit of a strain,

great war

I went to an exhibition today, which was about the first world war, it mainly seemed to be full of photos of men from my home village who had fallen in the great war, they were all young obviously not ravaged by time.  It was a bit sad to think that so many young men from the place where I grew up were killed, it had their names and the names of where they lived, the names of houses and streets are the same today Sometimes you feel the outside world does not affect what happens here, but I guess it must do as it dragged a load of the young men here into the conflict which was going on at that time, I am not sure I agree with them going to fight, but that is neither here nor there, the fact is they did and that was what was going on at that time. My grandfather was in the first world war, but he was lucky enough to survive, even though he did leave his calf muscle over there in wherever he was, it must have been hell for him really and I guess I will never know what he saw there, al

I did not go the 4th day of the walk, I could not face another 10 miles of plodding around the countryside, I think this is mainly due to the fact that I have not been walking quite so much in the last year, due to bad weather and things like that.  I did not think I would even finish 2 days but I did 3 in the end, more than anyone else except the person who organised the walk.   Instead of going on the walk i tidied up around the place, and just sat around, and also watched the football this afternoon, it was a crap day.  I did not even go for a short walk, its still perishing out there, I have a short walk on Wednesday, a kind of trail run for group who want to do this short walk, a recky or something they call it. I have at last heard when the new kitchen is being put in, apparently its on the !0th of April, I should have a received a 21 day notice but I didn't, which I guess is typical of the organisation who are doing the work.
