It has been a very grey beginning to the new year.  I am a bit fuzzy headed these days due to the cold which has been lingering around for over a week now.

 The microphone case finally came though it wasn't quite what I thought it would be I am not too happy with the foam inside but I guess it will have to do and it will do a sort of a job if I have to move a microphone around to somewhere else.  I think the post man must have opened the door and dropped the case in which is fair enough it saved me from having to go to the next town to pick it up which can be awkward these days as the bus service has changed a bit the times are all over the shop and there is sometimes a couple of hours in between the buses which can be a 

 I bit of a pain if I get stuck somewhere especially this weather which except for today has been been rotten.  The evening seem to be drawing out slowly too and I am sure spring will soon be here and away we go again.

 I got a letter from the student loan companyt today I forgot I had that loan out apparently it will be gotten rid of when I get to 65 years of age so I have another 20 years of it and I doubt it will get much higher than it is now due to the low interest rate I wish I could be a bit more positive about those students who are leaving college these days interest rates will eventually rise and maybe to the heady days of the 1980s and then these people will really feel the payments they have to make ont these loans

Well I achieved something last night, which I thought was going to be beyond me, I guess to a lot of people what I achieved, was pretty trivial, but I guess we all see things different;ly, what I achieved was to get over 170 score in a whist drive.  Last night was the first time I had ever done it, had a few scores in the 160's but not in the 170's which I see as the holy grail of scores to get as you will probably win then, which in fact I didn't last night, someone scored more than me, by 1 point.  I was not that bothered about that, all I was concerned about was getting a score above 170, I have been going to whist for years off and on and was never, until last night able to get the magic score, I am surprised I got the score last night as I had a bad headache all evening, I guess it was the luck of the cards that got me through. I thought I would never get the score, as I don't see very well, and struggle to make out the cards sometimes which is a bit of a strain,

great war

I went to an exhibition today, which was about the first world war, it mainly seemed to be full of photos of men from my home village who had fallen in the great war, they were all young obviously not ravaged by time.  It was a bit sad to think that so many young men from the place where I grew up were killed, it had their names and the names of where they lived, the names of houses and streets are the same today Sometimes you feel the outside world does not affect what happens here, but I guess it must do as it dragged a load of the young men here into the conflict which was going on at that time, I am not sure I agree with them going to fight, but that is neither here nor there, the fact is they did and that was what was going on at that time. My grandfather was in the first world war, but he was lucky enough to survive, even though he did leave his calf muscle over there in wherever he was, it must have been hell for him really and I guess I will never know what he saw there, al

I did not go the 4th day of the walk, I could not face another 10 miles of plodding around the countryside, I think this is mainly due to the fact that I have not been walking quite so much in the last year, due to bad weather and things like that.  I did not think I would even finish 2 days but I did 3 in the end, more than anyone else except the person who organised the walk.   Instead of going on the walk i tidied up around the place, and just sat around, and also watched the football this afternoon, it was a crap day.  I did not even go for a short walk, its still perishing out there, I have a short walk on Wednesday, a kind of trail run for group who want to do this short walk, a recky or something they call it. I have at last heard when the new kitchen is being put in, apparently its on the !0th of April, I should have a received a 21 day notice but I didn't, which I guess is typical of the organisation who are doing the work.
