sad news

I have started giving things to recycling site, as I have a bit of stuff I don't need.  I decided to give away a mixer and audio mixer which I was having difficulty using as I was struggling with understanding how it worked, also the plug had broken one of the pins had snapped off.  I advertised it on the site called freegle.

 Eventually I got a response from a chap who lived locally and he came to get it a few days later.  He said he would fix it he took a couple of other things I was giving away too. I was glad to get rid of them I am not a fan of clutter, I have some stuff in the shed which I need to get rid of I have failed to get rid of it on the recycling site so its going to end up in the bin I guess. I think my bvother is coming round to pick it up this week some time, like I say I have tried to give it away but no luck.

 Anyway, going back to the chap who picked up the mixer. I got a message through facebook the other day from a lady who said the chap had passed away and did I want the mixer back I was sad to hear of his passing, he seemed a nice chap who just wanted to help people.  I did not want the mixer back as the pin was broken.

 Today I also bumped into someone who I have not seen since I was in school which is about 38 years ago.  I saw her in the leisure centre, she works in the library which they have moved there recently. I did not recognise her at first but she knew me, she did comment on the fact I didn't know recognise her but in doing this I reognised her voice. She has obviously changed a bit in 38 years.  It was nice to see her I can't recall her being in the reunion which was held about 7 years ago.  She does not live too far away but I have been away a lot and therefore our paths would not have crossed I guess.

Well I achieved something last night, which I thought was going to be beyond me, I guess to a lot of people what I achieved, was pretty trivial, but I guess we all see things different;ly, what I achieved was to get over 170 score in a whist drive.  Last night was the first time I had ever done it, had a few scores in the 160's but not in the 170's which I see as the holy grail of scores to get as you will probably win then, which in fact I didn't last night, someone scored more than me, by 1 point.  I was not that bothered about that, all I was concerned about was getting a score above 170, I have been going to whist for years off and on and was never, until last night able to get the magic score, I am surprised I got the score last night as I had a bad headache all evening, I guess it was the luck of the cards that got me through. I thought I would never get the score, as I don't see very well, and struggle to make out the cards sometimes which is a bit of a strain,

great war

I went to an exhibition today, which was about the first world war, it mainly seemed to be full of photos of men from my home village who had fallen in the great war, they were all young obviously not ravaged by time.  It was a bit sad to think that so many young men from the place where I grew up were killed, it had their names and the names of where they lived, the names of houses and streets are the same today Sometimes you feel the outside world does not affect what happens here, but I guess it must do as it dragged a load of the young men here into the conflict which was going on at that time, I am not sure I agree with them going to fight, but that is neither here nor there, the fact is they did and that was what was going on at that time. My grandfather was in the first world war, but he was lucky enough to survive, even though he did leave his calf muscle over there in wherever he was, it must have been hell for him really and I guess I will never know what he saw there, al

I did not go the 4th day of the walk, I could not face another 10 miles of plodding around the countryside, I think this is mainly due to the fact that I have not been walking quite so much in the last year, due to bad weather and things like that.  I did not think I would even finish 2 days but I did 3 in the end, more than anyone else except the person who organised the walk.   Instead of going on the walk i tidied up around the place, and just sat around, and also watched the football this afternoon, it was a crap day.  I did not even go for a short walk, its still perishing out there, I have a short walk on Wednesday, a kind of trail run for group who want to do this short walk, a recky or something they call it. I have at last heard when the new kitchen is being put in, apparently its on the !0th of April, I should have a received a 21 day notice but I didn't, which I guess is typical of the organisation who are doing the work.
